Is there any work around to the problem that if you run Media center 12 that Tivo's server beacon won't work - and along with it the $25 upgrade from Tivo. If I have to make a choice, Media Center will win (grin) ...
Plus, I am still plagued by hundreds of duplicates (sigh)
-
I don't think we know about any Tivo beacon conflict.
Are they really duplicate files? Try a handful of duplicates and do right click/ library tools/ update library from tags.
Are they the same file in different locations?

Uninstall MC, and then make sure the TiVo Beacon is installed and working correctly.
Install MC, and start the TiVo server. Take a look at the Server status page, see if it is reinstalling the Beacon.
Let us know...

EDIT: Never mind. I made it work by:
1. Loading MC12 with Run As -> Administrator (running Vista 32-bit UAC turned ON)
2. Started the server. It installed the beacon and requested a restart
3. After restart it works without elevating to Administrator rights.
-------------
For what it is worth, I get the same thing... Won't work at all. Have tried uninstalling TiVo Desktop, and rebooting, but that didn't help.
Haven't tried re-installing MC yet.
The error I get is:
07/10/08 21:10:51 - Installing new API.
07/10/08 21:10:51 - Unable to copy new API.
07/10/08 21:10:51 - Please stop all programs (like TiVo Desktop) that might be using it.
If the problem persists, remove the TiVo Desktop application, reboot the system, and try again. You can reinstall the TiVo Desktop later.
