Rip Progress Details no longer displays progress of rip for more than one disc; you have to select each drive individually during multiple drive ripping to see the progress listed next to tracks
DC
Appears to be fixed in recent build.
-
Strangeness in Drives & Devices:
1. Sometimes seeing a completely different font (always smaller) when selecting one of my drives in the Tree; if I switch to another and switch back, it gets corrected.
2. Insert 4 discs ( i have four drives) and one is auto-updated from YADB, but the others don't until I manually select each drive in the tree, one after another. (been this way for a LONG time).

Solved with registry repair (clean & defrag)
Setup:
Zone 1 - video is set to use EMU Wav device
Zone 2 - video is set to use Realtek Wav device
FFDshow is set to connect to any filter, but I have also tried setting to WAVE with no joy.
Direct show filters show are connecting to the appropriate devices in each zone, but no audio is making it to EMU Patchmix (to preamp and floorstanders) or out my TV speakers via Realtek.
I just installed the new beta of CCCP and I'll try reverting to the old one, but thought it was worth a thread because MC isn't always connecting to DirectSound (hit or miss when tried) either.
DC
-
Did another tap fix it??
-
Sort of. It's "hit" or miss. ;D
I thought about changing the write caching options but for now it seems somewhat stable. I tried it an the start and end of a song with no difference.

Using a custom field defined as Data Type List (semicolon delimited), Edit Type Standard, and stored in file tags.
After having changed Bob Marley & The Wailers to:
Bob Marley & The Wailers; Wailers, The
Wailers, The is listed right next to Bob Marley in Tiles.
In Panes view it works as it should, but for some reason Tile view gets screwed up. Wailers should obviously be in W; am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?
thanks
DC
SOLVED - I was sorting by the same custom field I've created; removing that sorting which you wouldn't need to do anyway changes the sort behavior.

Solved with registry repair (clean & defrag)
Using Direct Sound to Realtek sound card, I just watched MC fail to connect to FFDshow three times, until the fourth time it worked and audio made it the crappy TV speakers.
My sytem is now back to the point where Wav and DirectSound should work but pobviously there is a problem somewhere and wav output is still non-existant.
I hope the staff can take a look look at what might be causing this for me.
-
Seems to be resolved with uninstall of 1.2 (which was still on system) and 1.3 and re-install of 1.3
PlayingNow plugin causes a freeze of MC quite often during, I assume, FTP upload.
This has been repeatedly been reported, by those wiser than I, to be a separate process.
Yet I consistently have playback starts lock down MC was PlayingNow loads (with popup enabled).
No uploads on my system running, and I even have the largest upload bandwidth size my ISP offers.
I have been watching this occur for some time now, ignoring it, but the frustration is building; it doesn't occur every time but enough to be really annoying. I'll double check that A/V is doing this somehow, and I don't run a software firewall.
BTW - it seems popup has to be enabled for FTP upload to work? I thought it used to work without popup enabled; I'm using PN 1.3
DC
-
This used to be a real problem with versions prior to 1.3
If my memory serves me correctly, in v1.3, Rhino made the ftp upload happen in its own thread, and I can honestly say I never see this problem.
Even on the odd occasion when the ftp server is unreachable, I'm unaware of this until playingnow fires an error message. In the past (pre v1.3) MC would lock up completely waiting for the playingnow ftp request to time out.
Have you tried running with ftp disabled for a bit to see if that resolves the issue?
Also, are you 100% certain you're running v1.3.9?

Hi Doc,
It sounds like sound card driver problem. Let me understand it better:
You can not play a video using WaveOut audio renderer specific to a sound card, right?
How about Default WaveOut Audio Render?
Do "EMU DirectSound Render" and "Realtek DirectSound Render" work?

MC12.exe /Mode Theater crashes MC when the settings for Options>Startup are:
Standard View
MC loads in TheaterView only with Last View enabled.
Location doesn't seem to matter.
I'm setting up a remote to use a hotkey to load in Theater View for my wife with Zone 2 enabled, and then I can manually start MC in standard mode/audio wen I'm using it.
EDIT - scratch that, now I can't even start MC. Memory reference error...omg...do I get an award for the most bug posts ever in this post, obviously due to my pos system!!!!

EDIT - reboot and killed a MC plugin for LCDsmartie, now I'm in MC. Tested the /Mode Theater and now I'm back to having failure to launch MC with either standard exe or the command line shortcut.
-
I've moved these here. It's hard to tell which ones might be MC problems and which are stability issues unrelated to MC.
-
Thanks, my own thread...yikes.
I noticed that an Airfoil dll was involved in the MS crash log so I removed Airfoil from my PC. This pevented the continuous crashing upon MC startup which occurs after a crash caused by what I think is an Mc bug (just below).
I still get the error noted above, and could you confirm that I should be able to load into Standard View>audio and also have a seperate shortcut w/ command line for Theater View startup; seems like a given so is most likely a bug.
I've edited the thread as most of the problems have been temp. resolved...spent most of today home messing around.

Audio problems seem to have disappeared and one of the issues here is and will be reported as a bug soon,.

With all the trouble I've had lately I'm hoping to squish this one under my MC boot:
When using a shortcut with command line MC12.exe /Mode Theater
I get crashes on startup when the settings when Options>Startup is Standard View.
MC only loads into TheaterView only when Last View is set.
Location doesn't seem to matter.
...squish??
EDIT - I can't reproduce this on one of my Vista machines, only XP is affected.
DC
-
1.
1. Changed: In a view scheme, 'Album Artist (auto)' will display as simply 'Artist'.
In View Scheme setup it should retain the unique name. This is confusing for new users i.e. having Artist listed twice when Artist & Artist (auto) have been added.
2. Is this by design? In .518 there was a bug on Vista where the file list drop down menu would only work with right click. Now in .520 on the View Scheme>Menu (Genre), the menu only responds to a right-click for drop down.

This command line bug is what mucked up my system bad.
I can't reproduce that one. Neither could Gappie. Any other clues?
-
are you using two monitors? i was just fooling around on my test system a bit with mc and theaterview startup, and suddenly i got some crashes also, inclusive memory failures. after thinking i got the same problem it turned out that it happened because i had Theater View startup for that specific zone on a display with less resolution etc, than where standard view had opened.
:)
gab
-
I don't use two monitors but I think a Radeon driver/app might be running because I have two desktop resolutions listed in the ATI systray icon. Let me do some testing on it.
BTW - I noticed the font problem you mentioned earlier when I returned to Standard view after successfully loading into Theater View with command line (has to be set to Start as startup location).
I didn't realize it at the time, but I reported seeing the same in Drives & Devices a couple times.

Well, I'm back on track and I can hardly believe it.
I ran a registry repair tool and defrag it for good measure.
When I enabled m4a and used DC-Bass source filter...this time it works, both AAC and ALAC. I got the FFDshow prompt askling to allow an app permission to use it!
Muy other problem with crashing is gone. Now I can start MC in Theater View from command line and also have normal startup set to Standar & Audio!
I can't believe it.
DC
-
I can choose DC-Bass or Haali/FFDshow and I get no EQ showing but I can play back ALAC in MC.
I'm using Zone 1 ASIO and m4a playback comes out through zone 2 when system volume is used. System is the HDMI wav output.
M4A playback makes the volume slider disappear (Internal is auto checked) and Mute is enabled as it plays out through my system default, the HDMI wav output (Zone 2).
Zone 1 ASIO playback settings for DirectShow are set to use the EMU wave device not the HDMI Zone 2 device, yet audio is routed to the default device.
I've got problems with Mc connecting to FFDshow. With Haali and FFDshow selected, I don't see any icon in the systry nor can I get any directshow info from fullscreen.
DC
BTW - I have been randomly getting permission messages from FFDshow asking to allow access by MC. Something is just not right. Please take a look at this. I'm usig the newest CCCP and the DC-Bass filter on my system.
DC
-
Check this out:
Un-register DC-Bass filter (gone from MC DS options), disable AAC and Uncompressed in FFDshow....now I can still playback ALAC in MC....?
Zone 1 ASIO playback = No EQ and M4A keeps getting routed to my zone 2 (system) which is my HDMI out even though I have EMU wav device for zone 1.
DC
-
And finally, how can I convert these files? Shouldn't MC be failing to playback if it has to resort to the Quicktime engine which is what its using??? ? I can't convert the files but I can play them back in MC.
DC
-
Getting closer.
I ripped Quicktime off the system.
If I use Haali & FFdshow I can do AAC with EQ in MC use JRiver renderer (my renderer is the HDMI Realtek which is auto-selected. Maybe the output device plays a role ?
DC-Bass filter only works with JRiver renderer off. I don't have EQ but now ALAC adnd AAC work in MCvia directshow.
I can convert the ALAC and AAC in MC and everything is playing out of the right zone. Quicktime was the main problem.
can anyone test this with newest CCCP (beta) or the standard?

I have used 4 rom drives with both MC11 & 12, on my last PC, and this new PC.
Sometimes MC will have trouble detecting insertion of discs and need to be prodded.
For example, insert one disc at a time but in quick succession. Select one disc for pre-rip tagging. Switch to another drive, and it is empty, no message to 'double-click', just empty until the drive is re-selected after selecting another (sometimes 2-3x). Sometimes there is a lag upon selection of a drive, then the tracks show up; most of the time I'm switching between drives trying to jumpstart recognition.
This is all occurring after the drives have had plenty of time for access. Maybe it's just good old Windows at the root of this issue; could be a bad drive mucking the whole thing up. In the end, MC can 'see' all the discs, but it often requires the aforementioned switching. Other issues have also cropped up:
1. Insert, tag, and rip disc
2. Eject disc
3. Insert new disc
4. Drives & Devices window for same drive shows disc info from step 1.
5. Manually select update from cdplayer.ini with no change
6. Select other drives, view their meta-data, and come back to problem one, no change.
7. Eject disc, re-insert, and MC correctly updates (from cd-text or YADB)
I commonly use Player or Audiograbber and updating cdplayer.ini manual with MC works fine most of the time. I do however often have to select my drives more than once to get MC to read from them (using 4 drives and observed this for a long time).

Seems like disabling DATAMASTER plugin is making things snappier (back to normal).
I observing a lot of performance issues in the form of delays, lag on startup, stop playback, and for example, opening pluginmanager:

I'm probably looking at my very own thread soon but the redraw problem is obviously an issue for me (2 pics available):

Recently I enabled DataMaster which appears to be having serious problems on Spartas end. Performance has been better for the devices as of a late; just happened to observe that anomaly with the new data not replacing the old. I'll try turning off the DataMaster for a week.
I also have the LastFM plugin running.

Uninstall plug-ins that aren't included with MC.

BTW, when you post screenshots on pix01, it would be nice to make them not public. This just means they won't appear on the home page of pix01. You can still post a link.

Sorry, I had that backwards.
