So I'm trying to get a wide network setup in my parent's new house. The house does not have ethernet but does have cat5e for the phone cables. To use it, though, would require new ports and other effort. There are few lines and we're using a housewide 12-phone system (one phone port) + [+ UPS].
So what is the best option for connecting tons of computers, printers, cameras, and other devices? I could easily eat up 25 ports. At powerline, that's about $50 a port! So what's the cheapest method, too? But some of the devices will be streaming DVDs and need top speed. I know gigabit ethernet would be the ultimate .... unfortunately.
