Title: iTunes 7.7 + iPhone 2.0 + MC 12.0.520 = Corrupted Phone
Post by: JasonJoel on July 12, 2008, 06:29:15 am
Before anyone else tries it... I tried copying music to my iPhone 3G from MC 12.0.520, and it completely corrupted the device. Had to do a full device restore.

No problem, as I had it backed up. But just thought I would warn others...

You can place the blame for this squarely on Steve Job's shoulders.  Apple is playing a shell game with developers to try to keep their system closed.  They purposely break compatibility with each new release.  Even Microsoft isn't this unfriendly to other developers.

Yep, had the same experience.

For what it was worth, that was why I posted the info. about my iphone on the thread for serial #'s and model #'s.

Still syncing my classic ipod with media center with no issues, and that has my full library, so at least some positive.  :-)

Media Center actually gave me a warning before I tried to sync a playlist to the iphone that the data structure was... hmmm...  can't remember the exact words, but not what it was expecting.

I went forward and had to restore as well.

Thanks for the reminder. I added my model/serial in the thread, too.

I get the message that iTunes does not recognize my phone and have to do a full restore. Maybe this there should be a sticky thread about this?

Build 526 and later (available on the main board) should ignore an iPhone 3G.

If the iPhone 3G still shows up with this new build, please post the model information in the thread at the top of this board about identifying your iPod.
