Title: Basic podcast bug - download attempts number not working

I am using the latest 12.0.526 build.

Go to
Options -> Podcast -> Attempt each download at most "x" times

I am unable to change "x" to anything greater than 10.  It fails to store the value.

I am having trouble downloading all my podcasts from various sources but eventually most of them seem to work, so I need to set this number to something much higher. You should be able to set it to anything you want - e.g. 1,000.

I've increased the limit to 1000, but the problem really is that the podcasts aren't downloading.

Sounds like a flaky network connection (router probably) to me.  Wireless?

I'm seeing the same thing, podcasts aren't working (downloading) at all in .526

Anyone else?

I figured it out. I'm using Windows Live OneCare (no comments...please). It was in a bad state such that the firewall was brokenish. Anyway, I ran the program from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=4BC2594B-95AB-4235-B5B8-41656B38480F&displaylang=en and that fixed it.

Thanks John - they usually download in the end but it takes many, many attempts..  so this will certainly help as I let it try all night :-)

Hi Peter, the point is they *shouldn't* require many attempts. I don't think anyone else is having this trouble. I'd guess you have a flaky switch/router somewhere. Luck... j

John - agree that this is not normal.  My web browsing etc. seems fine however. Any ideas on how I might be able to get to the bottom of the problem.  Is there anything in the MC logging that could help?

To start, let's make sure it's not MC. Try downloading a podcast with MC, and if it fails, try again through a web browser. Does that also fail? If it succeeds, try again with MC and see if it fails.
