Title: Firefly Question for Glynor
Post by: damian_pentney on August 03, 2008, 10:18:05 am
Glynor (or other firefly users), I was hoping you might have an idea on this:

I want to use the keys on the remote to control different devices: ie (1) hit CD player; remote button control CD player (2) hit DVD player; remote buttons control DVD player.

At the moment Girder responds to my firefly buttons in the 'absolute' sense ie if I hit CD player button, it responds to that as an event in itself but then Girder responds to subsequent presses of the play button as a generic Play event without assigning it to the "CD"

hopefully you follow what I'm getting at.....and might have a suggestion. thanks in advance

I follow completely, and it is possible (though it can be challenging if you want to control external hardware devices rather than using applications on your computer).  What version of Girder are you using?

I'm versed on how to do things like this with Girder4, but it was much harder to accomplish with earlier versions and I don't know how to do it with those.

I'm on girder 5....I do want to control other hardware devices but using UIRT (all devices are in same cabinet).

also....I'm not sure if you saw my other post on whether there is a way to have girder start "Play Radio" (I've tried command capture  but was unsuccesssful)

You could also try our software....it works fine with your X10 Firefly and USB-UIRT for blasting IR.
