JRiver Media Center 12.0.529 is it for version 12.
No more features or small changes will be made.
We've moved 529 to our downloads page.
No more bugs will be fixed unless they are "show stoppers".
So that's the bad news. Guess what the good news is. 8)

You just saved 15% on your car insurance?
-
Uh...I don't know...
Program gets sold to software giant, in which case we hunt down those responsibile and...?
A new technology is created in which media/data is embedded in one's skin and transmitted directly to the brain via central nervous system?
We move on to 13?

Pat on the back/round of beers in order for this milestone I think. Its been stable for me for many many builds now. As long as there'll always be a standalone MC set apart from music website tie-in custom builds etc, Ill be happy.
Looking forward to v13, v12.1, or whatever. Favourite/most used new feature in v12: Radio. Hope to see that evolve further.
-
I actually expected this to happen in last December when the build 400 was released: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=44059.0
I wasn't exactly right. Since then JRiver has created 129 new MC12 builds. ;D
-
Congrats to all the JRiver folks! It has been a great two years! :) 8)
-
Thanks, team.
I've been very impressed in the last 9 months since I first started dabbling with MC. A friend of mine is returning from South America next week. I've already told him about MC12 and we'll purchase a license when he gets here.
-
I've split bug fix discussion to a new thread here (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=47705.0).
-
Gongratulations. Great product. I'm sure the v13 will be even better :)
-
Will MJ receive one more update??
-
yes, congrats. is mc perfect now. of course not. but seeing all the things that have changed since the introduction of 12 the next step is just an other step in the work in progress called mc. 8)
cant wait. ;)
:)

Congrats ;D
I was beginning to wonder what had happened since 'Will there be a build 400?'...lost count of the number of major new features introduced since then!
-

Funny...

We have State Farm too and we are very satisfied. And, I've shopped around a bunch and no one could beat their price (not by more than $2-3 per year anyway).

Start work on version 14. Skip 13 cause it's an unlucky number. ;)
Y'all deserve a pint and some time to listen to tunes with Media Center. I'm constantly ticked at how wonderful Media Center is for playing my music and organizing my files. Thank you thank you and make something even better for the next version.
-
Congrats! You've come a long way baby ;)
So, has the Beta Team been busy lately?
Can we get a 'sneak-peek' at what lies ahead? Some clues perhaps?
-
Jim requested us to be :-X
In the meanwhile I'd say: Enjoy the matured MC12!
(However, expect to see at least one bug fix release soon. Since they are not going to change MC12 anymore there is a good chance to get the possibly remaining bugs ironed out.)
-
Once we call a version done, as we have now, we usually put out 2 or 3 more bug-fix-only builds over the next month or two or so.
-
In what time frame can we expect the first version 13?
Weeks? Months?
-
Yeah, and what's the situation with licenses? I've already asked that question in another thread, but didn't get an answer. Will we have to pay again for the upgrade from 12 to 13? Now that it's "official" that MC13 is coming soon, it'd be very nice to get more information.
All in all, i wish JRiver's communication towards its customers would be a little more clear and understandable. In this specific case, we were told that there would be no more versions of MC12. Shortly afterwards, that statement changed to something like "probably a few more bugfixed versions". I think a (more or less) precise description of the current situation with MC12 would be "feature freeze". It stands to reason that there can be a certain point in time where no more features can be added to a piece of software, in order to complete a development cycle, and begin a new one. Still, "no more features" is quite different from "no more versions".

MC 13 uses an MC 13 license. We began selling MC 13 licenses with MC12.0.529. If you purchased with a prior build, you have an MC12 license, and if you want to use MC13, it will require a paid upgrade.
We haven't set a price. We also haven't released an MC13 version.

I have said that we usually release a build or two after the point where we call it done, but there is no guarantee. We will fix "show stopper" bugs. This, in my definition, means a bug that prevents the software from working as advertised. It would not, for example, include adding support for a new version of Windows, or fixing bugs that affect very few people, or fixing cosmetic problems, or typos, or most anything else. "Critical" would be another way to describe what we would fix.
"Feature freeze" does not begin to describe the stage MC 12 is at now.

At least a month, maybe several.
-
MC12 has been another great version. Thanks...
Looking forward to MC13. ;D
-
It would not include fixing typos
Eek. There's one that's been particularly bugging me since I spotted it the other day. Now I'll have to get MC13.

Excuse the ignorance...how can I tell? My purchase date was Aug. 8 if that helps determine the answer.
Thank you.

On August 8, it was no longer possible to get an MC12 license. It would be an MC13 license.
You can also have the system e-mail you your license. The link is on this page:

Ouch that leaves me with Itunes for managing my Iphone for quite a while.
That hurts. :P

You could sync a hard disk folder in MC and only use iTunes for syncing the contents of that base folder with your iPhone. It would not update play counts, but it would make possible to use MCs library and interface for track selections.
Tools > Options > Handheld > Add Device > Device Path: <this can be a standard disk folder>

That does not sound bad at all. I''ll have a look into this.
Thanks!

Whoa! Bad typo there. I'm constantly tickled. Tickled.
-
ohhh ... I've just posted small minors ... doesn't matter.
Can't wait to see MC13 ...
thx, tom

I do hope the iTouch will be fixed as a bug soon. It used to work somewhat with [Apple firmware version] 1.14 but not with ver 2.0.
Congrats on MC12 though...

Jim stated somewhere that iPhone/Touch 2.0 support is going to have to wait until v13. Apple, as usual, included a poison pill with the new OS version making it unnecessarily difficult for 3rd Party Apps to support it. As far as workarounds...

Make sure to keep reading on down the thread, as I eventually explain my current full method in detail. It works but there are some issues with doing it this way, especially with video support. MC limits your options on generic handhelds for absolutely no reason. I'd actually appreciate some feedback on the suggestions for improvements I've made.

MC 13 already has some really cool stuff in it, and the Propellerheads are barely cracking their knuckles.

Wait a second--that counts as a leak? JimH, I demand a video replay!
I don't care who hears it--MC is great and I love it!! And that includes the version number that comes after 12 (I won't disclose what number comes after 12).
"If lovin' MC's wrong, I don't want to be right . . ."

Is it XIII? PM me if you can't confirm it in the open.

That's a very all or nothing outlook you have there.

Thank you! I've already got a team working 24/7 on a rival project by reverse engineering the info in your post. Look out for FBMC (FitBrit Media CentRe) soon. The feature set is already complete see below.

Some really cool stuff

This is great! I can wait, but only because I have to, and no longer than I need to, that's for sure!

One of the things that I would like the new release to be able to do is when I create a CD from
a playlist on one of my PC that I can recreate it on another. It will automatically read my musical
directory, find the song if the name is the same or even ask if its the right one, then fill in
the filenames and create the new playlist.
