Title: slow tagging!!
Post by: edesart on August 13, 2008, 12:58:09 am
All I did was update several album cover arts in my list. (ok 300 or so) When exiting the program it seriously stalled 'saving tag changes'. Like a second per. Anyone else see this issue?

What's your setting at "Tools > Options > General > Online MetaData > Submit Cover Art Changes To Online Database"

and how fast is your upload speed?

A virus checker could do that.

And are your songs on a local or network drive? A network drive definitely is slower with the updates.

I found this happened to me when OneCare was doing a virus check in the background.
Have you been able to reproduce it?

Is it true that this may also occur on Flac files the first time it is added?  Possibly because it needs to rewrite the entire file (Tag info is at the beginning).

I seem to recall someone telling me this...... and I know for a fact that MP3s update cover art for me quickly, while I see the same performance as you when updating cover art stored inside of FLAC files.  So either there is some truth there......or my virus program exclude rules are not doing what I think,. ;)

Make sure you have it set to exclude the registry and the library files for MC, too.

I have Zone Alarm and have turned off what I could. Does anyone run Spybot and know the best way to set it? I've played around with the options. I'm also running AdAware but I don't know if that even looks at MC but if there is an expert please let us know.
