I can't install the new version. I get the following message:

Install Wizard could not copy the necessary files to the destination folder.

Please ensure that the file 'c:\Program Files\Media Jukebox 12\JRTools.dll' is not is use.

Make sure MJ is not already running (check the process manager as well).

Did not have MJ running, and did not see anything in process manager. I did a reboot and tried again. This time it installed OK. Must be some Vista gremlin.

That's what I get for posting two builds at once.

The JRTools thing is a shell extension issue.  If you disable shell extensions in the existing install before either installing or (maybe) rebooting the new install should go fine.

A reboot should work.  Then install.

The "bug" (as I call it) where if I use an external converter, MJ won't synchronize my large size files  (even though they will be converted to a much smaller file size) is still apparent.  So is the issue where MJ is not tagging the new files it creates on device properly (or at all).

The first one can be fixed if MJ converts the files on the hard drive temporarily, and then tries to copy the file across, and if it fails the device filled up.

The second one may be because I don't let MJ alter tags in files; but I think it's a little different from wanting it to change tags that are already there, and copying them over from the previous file.  Two different things!

Other than that, I don't know what's changed, but I'm still loving the program!

Well I have to say I am very happy with MJ 12 but I would like to know how to import my ITunes files, aka mp4 files. Does MJ Support them?

Yes.  With Quicktime installed, or with DirectShow (unless they are DRM'ed files).  Try the wiki for information on these files.  Link above.

Hi, i am using Media Jukebox for a long time - it's the best. But !!! I have Win 2000 and i can use Media Jukebox upto version 12.0.0.41 only.
When i have been tried version 12.0.0.42 (and any next version including 12.0.0.48), i can here distorted sound only instead of music.
Changing sound output settings does not solve that. What has been changed on version 12.0.0.42?

thanks for reply,

That problem may be related to a specific sound device and it may be fixed in the latest build or in a future build (there were some changes in Media Center). What is your sound card?

I don't think MJ12 has any Windows 2000 Pro related changes, but I have not recently tested it on W2k. (I'll try it now. I still use W2k on an old office PC.)

A setting was added in the latest builds of MC13 and MC12, but isn't in MJ yet:

NEW: Added DirectSound channel modes "Hardware Direct (sound card chooses)" and "Do Not Specify Channels" to help with surround sound routing on some hardware.

I am very new to Media Jukebox and media center. I understand that Media Jukebox in Audio only, but does it have the multizone capabilities that JMC does? And what is the minimum requirements to use multi zone. I have an old P# I would love to use stricly as a multizone media server.

Only Media Center has the zone features. The zone system consumes additional resources only when multiple zones are played simultaneously.

Do you mean the first generation Pentium by P# 1? I remember that I used MC10 on a 400 Mhz Pentium II without problems, but the newer versions are more graphic intensive. On a "Pentium 1" PC everything would probably be too slow to be practically usable, not just the zones.
