Title: What is the best way to clean a CD?

DVDs and Audio CDs.  I have fingerprints all over them from my friends handling them.

warm soapy water, I use bog standard washing up liquid.

When drying, do not use circular actions, dry from the center outwards.

Washing can scratch the surface (if you get a piece of grit caught in the rag). You want the scratch to travel perpendicular to the data track, not parallel. Then the CD's data recovery can work better.

The cleaning soloution found in expensive cd cleaning kits is Window Cleaner.
I'd guess the anti scratch stuff is some kind of polish.
