After reimporting my library, all images appear as horitzontal photos (even the one I rotated previously). However, the images appear OK in Windows Explorer and in other photo viewers.
The images appear rotated in thumbnails and in full view.
Is there any configuration I should set? Why MC does not read images as I expected?

By the way, it happens in pictures I imported today. This images has been rotated previoulsy using Windows Explorer (or MS Picture Manager). The images also apper correctly in MS Paint.
I reimpoted again one vertical picture, and still appears rotated...

Windows does not read the rotation from the EXIF tag on the file.
Media Center, Adobe, and other good image managers do.
Could this explain the issue?
You can do lossless JPEG rotation in Media Center. Look on the right-click menu for images. After a rotate, Media Center will zero-out the EXIF tag so that the JPEG will load the same in good image managers and ones unaware of rotation tags.

the zero out in the tag mc does for you, but you have to rotate those images first.
i made a view (a smartlist will do also) with the rules:
media type is image
Rotation is not 0
this gives me the images with a rotation value in the tags. although they show up great in mc, I'll rotate them, the value will be set to 0 and with some luck the rotation is right in one try, otherwise a few more rotations can do it. one thing to make it easy is adding the rotate left and rotate right to the toolbar, and make the images big enough, you can do it all in the view scheme (smartlist), and select a few at the same time to rotate.

here are two images of my lib. in the first you see the pics that need rotation. under the pics are the rotation values as in the exif tags, this gives an idea about the rotation it needs. they are on 270, rotate right sets them right in one click (see the toolbar).
pic two is the result, the rotation value is gone. the pics are rightly rotated, and after a refresh, they are gone from the list.

I didnt know about the "rotation" tag... I could set it a 0 using the detailed view... and now the images appear OK both in windows and MC...

that is great.. the reason why i made it do it this way is that changing it by deleting the number in the library, the tags of the image is not updated. take one you just deleted the rotation from and let the library update from the tag. it jumps back, and it can also be red wrong by an other application.
you can check the tag by opening format in the tags window.

i actually think the way mc handles the rotations in tags and is able to rotate the images lossles with removing the written tag, is the best compromise for handling this confusing subject. there has been discussions about this subject in the past on this forum. you might want to search for them.
