Title: MP3 Encoder Required for Syncing IPOD
Post by: John T on September 01, 2008, 03:24:10 pm
I have been using MJ12 since January.  I just installed the latest update and now I can not sync my IPOD without getting a message requiring that I buy an MP3 encoder.  What does the MP3 encoder have to do with syncing my files?  Before this update I was ripping discs using the LAME encoder without any problems and now I can't even sync my MP3s.  What's happening here?  I'm confused.

Thanks,
John T

An MP3 encoder is required for conversion of non-MP3 files to the MP3 format that the iPod supports.

You could make sure all your audio files are MP3, or you might consider buying the encoder if you like the software.

Thanks.

Thank you, that gives me part of the answer.  I turned off the setting for converting non-mp3 files and this allowed me to sync my files.

The unanswered part is why did this happen after the last update when I was using this feature since January?  Is this something new...paying for the encoder?
