Title: Betanews reviews
Post by: 221bBS on September 04, 2008, 07:51:22 pm
Kind of sad that MC has such a bad rating (3.7/5.0)  :'( on FileForum.

I was reading the reviews and some people seems to have it in for MC.  >:(

We're shooting for 3.8 with version 13.

Yet 70,000 people downloaded it.  Let's see... 600 people took the time to click their 1-5 rating choice.  That means that 3.75 rating represents .0085% of those who downloaded, so 99.9915% are happy with it and never returned to the product page ;)

This is an old post but got to say "Undesired Username" is pissing me off with his reviews. Would be nice if some people would give some positive review for MC.

 ;)

bbs,
Thanks for your support in keeping him in check.  I have a hard time understanding how someone could be so hateful -- even a competitor.

The positive posts our users make on other forums can be extremely helpful.  They are much appreciated!

BetaNews isn't even on my radar as a source for looking for downloads or recommendations.  The review system and comments are immature over there.

It's mentions by users in forums like Head-Fi and other audio/video forums that got me to try Media Center.  People who clearly care about audio mentioning that they use Media Center or Jukebox mean a lot more than juvenile comments on a random download site.

Thanks for the comment.  What other sites?  AVSForum?

Head-Fi primarily.  I search and look in other forums occasionally, but not often.  I have never been over to AVSForums even for a search.  My listening is headphones or nearfield monitors at the computer.

Many users at Head-Fi list their equipment in the sigs at the bottom of posts.  You see regular mentions of JRiver MC there in the sigs.  That's how I caught on that MC was worth a try.

This is kind of sad. I just went back to see if any changes were made on the comment section and it seems someone has created a user name almost identical to mine. Only difference it seems it that there is an extra space at the end of his name.  ? At least that's what it seems like to me.

It make it seem like I no longer use the software.  >:( Oh well, I reported it and asked them to change their name or mine. Hopefully they will delete his/her account.  ;D

Surprisingly, you can make a sworn enemy while developing a media player.  The world is full of angry people.

Locking this now.
