Hello,
I am building a movie library and all my movies are in avi format.
My problem is that the widescreen movies are too small as we prefer a full screen or as close as possible to full.
People keep telling me that I can zoom in with the mouse but it does not work.
I can zoom in on a dvd no problem.
Could it be a setting that I have missed in JRiver or the codecs I am using.
I use dixv and xvid codecs and nothing else.
Cheers

Try the keyboard arrows to get the On Screen Display (OSD). Zoom is one of the options.

I only get volume and position no Zoom.
It must be a setting somewhere that I have wrong.

It definitely looks like a settings issue.
Go to Tools -> Options, and select Playback -> Video -> DirectShow Playback Settings ...
On the resulting dialog window,
1. make sure "Use Window Media Player engine for video playback when possible" (at top left corner) is not checked;
2. make sure the file type (avi) is checked in the list on the right hand side (under "DirectShow Filters").
Then you must make sure you have DirectShow filters that can handle your files (Divx, Xvid, or whatever) - installing FFDShow (or better yet, CCCP which includes FFDShow) is the way to go.

Thank you so much it was the windows media player engine.
I have been asking this forum for months and either no one answered or they did not know what it was.
We can now watch our movies on the full screen.
All the codecs are fine I use as little as possible I started out with FFDShow and it gave me more trouble than enough.
Cheers again for the help
