Title: How to change volume when using Numark DJio
Post by: pstefani on September 06, 2008, 12:18:22 pm
After a search in the help file that came with the software and this forum brought up nothing, I thought I'd ask the question here.

I'd like to use JRMC12 to play to the house in one zone and prelisten in another. The software does see the DJio and I was able to send a zone Output 2, which is connected to the headphones, by using the channel offset feature in the zone setup menu. After starting playback, however, it is not possible to change the volume -- any adjustment of the volume slider and even muting has NO EFFECT on the output.

I have the newest ASIO drivers and the DJio works perfectly with Traktor 3, so I'm guessing it's an issue on the J River side. I downloaded version 12 today, and there are apparently no updates available.

Any ideas/suggestions?

You could have explained what is a DJio. After searching for more info I found this page:
http://www.planetdj.com/i--DJIO

According to the video clip that runs automatically on that page it uses ASIO.

An ASIO driver can bypass the Windows mixer completely. My Terratec sound card has an ASIO driver that allows to use the master volume when the analog outputs are used (I think it links the master volume adjustment to its own mixer) but other implementations may work differently.

Have you tried MC's Internal Volume setting? Click the small speaker icon besides the volume slider or use the top menu (Player > Volume ... ) for accessing the setting.

I recently got a new computer with a Asus Xonar card which I run in ASIO. To get volume control in MC I have to use the internanl volume setting (or system, but I prefer it separate). The problem is, on restart, this setting is reset and I get max internal volume (since it makes no difference what the standard volume bar is set to). Any ideas?

Untick the two tickboxes in Tools > Options > Startup > Startup Volume. After that MC should remember the last volume slider position.

Thanks, that's logical. I was looking for a setting, didn't think to consider the absence of *other* settings!
