King,
I liked your thread, but couldn't think where to start.  It's a very solemn subject.

Lately, I've been thinking about what I tried to teach my kids.  Conversations that started out with, "Now this is really important...".  They were running for the door.

I'll come back to this in a few days, but here's my list so far.

Jim

Try as hard as you can, but learn to accept failure gracefully.

Failure is a good teacher.

It is what it is.

And it often doesn't make any sense.

Don't take any grief, don't give any.

Never let fear keep you from doing something you think is right.

Most meaningful events in your life are also scary.

Aim high.

When in doubt, choose the way with the heart.  (not mine -- it's from The Teachings of Don Juan)

Honesty and integrity above all.

Just live.

I believe that explaining how to drag and drop from one window to another to a non-techie is the most soul destroying thing ever.  Yesterday  I spent two hours explaining to someone how to get the contents of a zip file in their email on to a CD.
Even then they still suceeded in burning a blank disk.

I remember trying to explain to someone how to double click.  *click* *paaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusssssssssssssseeeeeeeeee* *click* is not a double click.

When my brother asks what PC he should buy I tell him to get a dell.  Not because I think they're great but because he's used to talking to them whenever he has a problem.  If he gets a PC with truly bad tech support he'll start calling me.  It would be a shame if I had to start screening his calls.

Are you kidding Dell's support is horrendous!

*Topic brought back from the dead*
I got a good laugh from "*click* *paaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusssssssssssssseeeeeeeeee* *click*"
and felt it needed a rebirth.

Some Cobwebs are still present.

1. Stop and smell the roses/watch the waves/have a laugh

When i was younger, i was always too busy for this in the army.

It means more now then ever.

I do these things now with my wife who stuck with me thru the good and the bad.

I done something recently that i always wanted to do, it is own my own gun. I bought a Beretta 92A1 9 mm Gun.

It was like $700+

I fired a older version of this same gun when I was in the army.

I am going to take refresher courses, and try to get my concealed Carry permit, and maybe apply for a job securing Air Ports, And Also Fort Bragg, NC. Etc....

I always enjoyed going to the range in the army and blowing off A 1,000 rounds or so (The NCO's Shot Off The Extras So We Would Not Need To Secure Them, or Do Paperwork To Turn In Unused Rounds).

I May Get A Red\Green Laser, And Flashlight For It.
