Title: iTunes 8 problems
Post by: Eccles on September 10, 2008, 09:39:42 am
Apple Updater is prompting me to download the new release of iTunes.  Since I only ever use iTunes to apply firmware updates to my iPod Classic, I'm not inclined to update it at this time.  However, since I don't see any mention of iTunes 8 here yet, I thought I'd start a thread for any suggestions, compatibility issues, or experiences with the new version.

You may be able to right click on the iPod under MC's Devices and choose Update Firmware.  Not all iPods are supported.

Yeah, unfortunately the Classic is one of those not supported.

iTunes 8 includes a security fix for a local privilege escalation.

QuickTime 7.5.5 includes a large number of security fixes.

A summary of the issues is here: Apple plugs gaping QuickTime security holes (http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=1877)
