I tried syncing my Sony Ericsson W880 this morning and MC 12.532 crashed so hard that I couldn't close it or even end it through Task manager > End process. The only thing I could do was to shut the pc down by pressing the power button for 4 seconds.
It was one file that broke it. The song plays fine, I couldn't find anything unusual about it either.
Is it the filename? "VA - Stadig Beskidt - 10 - Pede B - Tror Ikk' På Dig (Feat. 5-Dob Og Skurken).mp3" (without quotes) that does it?
Or is it this:
12.0.533 (8/29/2008)
1. Fixed: Library Sync could crash in some cases.
Thanks!
/Martin
Update: I'm using Vista SP1.

It's worth trying 12.0.533 from the MC12 board.
-
I installed 533 and the same thing happened :( The only thing closing MC is a hard power off.

I've had this happen as well.
Question... Is the file a "Quicktime type" (ie MOV, M4V, or MP4)?
Nevermind. I see what it is. Read, Ed, read.
Either way, I have this happen during handheld sync and with Podcasts occasionally. It usually seems to be, for me, Quicktime file format related. Did you notice if it was the JRWorker.exe thread that was pegged? Usually for me, JRWorker pegs, but it seems to lock up explorer.exe as well.

Would you mail the file to matt at jriver and include a link? Thanks.

It's sent. Thanks!

I had it happen today on my laptop. I deleted the file. I'll be sure to send it next time I have one that I find which file it was...

Thanks for the file. I couldn't reproduce a problem using a WMDM or drive-based device. We don't have your exact device.
Could you use Help > Logging to capture a crash to a log, and then use the "Email logs" button in the same dialog after the crash to send them my way? Just to be safe, restart the program after you enable logging.
Thanks.
