Title: The periodic question - MC13 OK to use now?
Post by: vbrook on October 23, 2008, 09:20:17 pm
Hi,

I have an MC12 license. Any upgrade perspectives, based on my usage pattern?

- I use MC only for music.
- I like Theatre View.
- I do not have a portable iPhone, etc nor do I play on buying one.
- Low tolerance for bugs/fiddling.

Personal opinion/experience? Upgrade... it's fairly stable, especially for the uses you mentioned, and there are some cool new features you can take advantage of.

This is true. But, I like giving J River my money :-)

Sounds like upgrading to 13 is OK to do now. So I shall!

I have MC12 and MJ12
Today, I just upgraded my license to MC13
but... for music only, I prefer MJ  (fast, light, low memory and CPU use..)

Is it actually any faster or lighter?
I was under the impression it would be the same on account of basically being MC with bits hidden/disabled.

JRMJ is great, but doesn't it lack split views? I haven't been able to find it when installing it on my sisters computer in an attempt to convert her. That's a deal-breaker to me. (The conversion also failed, it was to much hassle for her - although I have managed to convert her to Opera, so I'm happy for that at least).

EDIT: And also, as to the question of 'OK to use' - they have started selling outright MC13 upgrades, so I'd say that's an indicator :).
