I loved MC but I just got a new 120GB ipod classic.
The "genius" feature is too cool for me to pass up. I don't listen to music on my computer much, most of my music listening happens on the ipod. With 120GB of music in my pocket, the smart lists that genius can do on the fly are incredible. ~90% accuracy on picking other songs to go with the one I selected. That is how I listen to music, rarely a playlist or full album, mainly jumping around.
I wish MC could support this feature on my ipod but I recognize that their store is the key for the data.

Which genres of music do you find work well with the 'genius' feature ?
-
As I understand it, the feature is similar to MC13's Play as Radio. Select any song, right click, choose Play, then Radio. This was introduced in MC13 before iTunes 8.
-
Haven't tried Itunes Genius, but for what I read, the feature is similar to the "last.fm DJ" plugin which is in MC12, taking the last.fm database and choosing songs based on it, what I hope is that soon that plugin is avaible in MC13, improved hopefully.

Genius works on ~90% of my music. There are a few weird compilations from Asia that don't get any hits.
The key is not being able to run it on the computer, that's child's play. With itunes they dump the metadata on the ipod so it can do genius on its own.
I am not 100% sure (and in the midst of 6 weeks traveling the globe) but if I could see that JR would let me manage the music then itunes could connect to the store and dump the meta data on my device I would be happy. Maybe I can play with that over the xmas vacation.

Just to clearify what JimH aimed at (did not find it immediately):
Right click on song> \ Send to> \ Play> \ "Play (as radio)"
-
It's also under "More" just below "Play" in the right click menu.
-
...but you can't play MC radio on your iPod.

You can make a playlist and transfer it.
