Hi there,
Performer looks really cool, and I thought I'd take it for a spin. I signed up, for the trial, but can't login. All I have access to is a 30 second sample. :'(
Is there an email I missed or something?
Thanks in advance for a quick reply.
Aaron

In the upper right corner, there is a button that says:
Sign up -- if you haven't registered
Log in -- if you're registered, but not logged in
or
Account -- if you have logged in
What does it say?
There are a very few tracks that only have 30 second samples because of label or publisher rights.

Mine says "Log In". When I click on it a window appears with my email address in the user field. I type in my password, and then I get a message that says "Error getting subscription license".
I tried the 'forgot my password' button, but it says 'We had a problem send your new password. Password has not been changed.
What am I doing wrong?

Could you send an e-mail to tom at jriver? Include your details and a link to this thread.
Thanks,
Jim

The login error is from the client. Your current password should be fine. There is a bug in the Email Password code. So these are two separate errors. We could use a log from the client.
Edit: The Email Password bug is fixed. Login is failing due to the subscription license thing. For that we need a log. The password you've been using is fine.

Can't get the log to post (it's too long). I tried resetting the log, but still too long. Should I try to truncate it?
I did send an email to Tom.
What's next?

We're looking at this right now.

We put some more logging into yesterday's build (71), have you had a chance to try it?

I'll post it later today.

It's on the main performermc.com page now. Here's a direct link: ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/PMC/PerformerMC.exe

Tarnation. I meant to do a build before I left.
King, this should work next build.

I have a possible fix for those of you who have been struggling...
I was having issues because of DRM limitations related to Windows Media 11. After lots of help from John T, I tried uninstalling Windows Media 11 (actually a rollback because you cannot totally uninstall WM). Once it finished the rollback, I was able to login with no problems.
The next day Windows auto-updated Windows Media back to v11 (bless them >:(). I figured I'd be re-rolling back, but tried logging in just for grins, and it worked!
To sum up, try uninstalling (rolling back), then try logging in to Performer. If that works, reload the latest version of Widows Media, and you should be good-to-go. Here's a link to uninstall Windows Media:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/readme.aspx#RollingbacktoapreviousversionofthePlayer
One other quick note, if you do try this, note the rollback is a two step uninstall process (the player and the runtime)
