Title: major stutter problems during rip
Post by: Todd on July 24, 2002, 02:11:45 pm
HELP! I am having serious problems with MP3s coming out with stutters. I'm ripping @ 256 with the LAME encoder, highest quality, large buffer, max speed. It seems that if I'm doing *anything* else at all with the computer (including apparently using MJ to play already-ripped MP3s) I have this problem. The LAME encoder is already a major CPU hog (90% ).

Relevant specs: P4 2.0GHz, 1GB RAM Plextor 40x SCSI CDROM on Adaptec 3200 controller (it's the only device on its cable), latest ASPI (4.71), though 4.70 had similar problems), WinXP Pro, recently refreshed so relatively few extraneous background processes.

Any advice on how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

ThX!

Does it help if you turn off simultaneous rip and encode?

And how about trying the mode "Digital Secure"?
