Title: Batch downloading movie posters
Post by: park on November 05, 2008, 09:01:37 am
Does anybody have a good workflow for getting movie posters and applying them as cover art for video files in MC? I have ripped my DVDs to mp4s and mkvs, and dont find the thumbnail captures that MC generates very useful. Most of the files contain the majority of the movie title in the filename, but the formatting may be off (no spaces, period marks instead of spaces, and erroneous ".title1..." information). So ideally something like YADB's "loose" search ability would be a bonus. I would go through my files and name them correctly if that werent an option though.

Hi park,

My solution at the moment uses both MC and Personal Video Database, so it's up to you whether you're happy to enlist another program or not...

There's a fair bit of info on how to use PVD in this thread: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=47538.msg326378 (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=47538.msg326378)
rick.ca has described how to deal with posters specifically here http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=47538.msg326378#msg326378 (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=47538.msg326378#msg326378)

There are some problems, it's a bit convoluted, and it doesn't work all the time (but apart from that it's okay? haha)
This method could be *extremely* effective if J River would allow us to edit the Image File field (ie we could update poster info with a simple export from PVD)

While it takes a while - especially the first time you do it, the results are worth it :)
