Title: Playing aacplus streams
Post by: jaxc123 on November 08, 2008, 08:30:34 am
I want to use Media Center to play aacplus streams from some internet radio and I've been looking all over the forum how to make it play but didn't find anything helpful. K Lite Code Pack installed. When trying to play aac+ stream player shows a message:
"Media Center encountered errors while trying to play the last several files. Please make sure that the path in your media
library points to the right location"
and nothing more happens then.
Could anybody give me proper instructions how to make it work?

Install Orban AACPlus plugin (DirectShow filter) (http://www.orban.com/plugin/setup_AAC_aacPlus_plugin_1_0_41.exe). Most AACplus streams can be played.

Done. But still doesn't work. Is any installation/setup required inside Media Center?
Thanks for fast response

MC's Tools/Options/Playback/Video/DirectShow

In our Wiki, there is a section on DirectShow.

After installing the plugin, in MC go to Tools -> Options, choose Playback -> Video -> DirectShow playback settings...

Find aac from the DirectShow types list. Make sure the check box is checked. Select the entry and click "Select Filters". You should be able to see "Orban-CT AAC/aacPlus Stream Parser" on the left-hand-side. Check its checkbox and click OK.

I had done all this even before I posted here. And that message appears every time whatever I do.
Winamp plays it good. But I want to play aac+ in my fav MC. It will be good if native support
of aac+ to be released in some later version. Winamp got it long ago.

Can you provide an example of an aac+ stream that does not play?

You can also try playing some ShoutCast AAC+ streams. Those play fine on my computer.

Any. For example, SHOUTcast's RMF FM from MC's Web Media doesn't play. I guess it's something with my system, but I can't get what's wrong with it.
