Title: Issues with MC13.0.069 on Vista x64
Post by: aidan.nashwood on November 10, 2008, 06:58:11 pm
Just installed on Vista x64 machine where I have a running MC12.

1) New version shares an issue I have with previous versions on Vista x64, in that when you start or stop MC, it freezes windows for around 30 seconds.

2) MC13 seems to spontaneously crash after around a minute after configuring..don't need to do anything..Windows reports (with minor address variations):
Fault bucket 1006440787, type 1
Event Name: APPCRASH
Response: None
Cab Id: 0

Problem signature:
P1: Media Center 13.exe
P2: 13.0.69.0
P3: 491231a9
P4: JRImage.dll
P5: 12.0.39.0
P6: 49122c41
P7: c0000005

I have content in audio (mostly mp3), photos and videos (AVI and various MPEG)

Could you enable logging in Help > Logging, get a crash, then use the "Email logs" button on the logging dialog to send matt at jriver dot com the logs?

For what it's worth, I'm using Vista x64 on my work machine to develop Media Center, and it's working quite well for me.  The lack of native 64-bit shell extensions is the only issue I'm aware of.

Have sent the logs taken from admin/xp compatibility mode.
However, the email logs button didn't work in that mode, had to restart in pure vista mode to send the logs.
Let me know anything else you need.

I emailed this too, but each restart flushes the logs.  If you can't use the email logs button, you'll have to find the logs by hand.  They're under Users\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 13\Log.txt.

Also, we don't recommend compatibility mode.  It shouldn't be needed.

Just to let you know, that was the last time it crashed like that...maybe related to the initial import & thumbnail process.
If it comes back I'll update.

The lack of native 64-bit shell extensions is the only issue I'm aware of.

How soon can this be resolved...
