Title: Video playback problem
Post by: boydn on November 11, 2008, 02:29:32 am
I've got some videos that I ripped.  .VOB files with the extentions changed to MPEG and all seemed to be ok.  Installed MC13 on the machine in the Vista box in living room.  Start playback and within 2-3 seconds BSOD.   Play fine in WMP11.

Any ideas

Can I ask why you're changing the extension? MC plays nicely with .ifo files, which point to your .vob files and plays then with the full dvd functionality that you've riped them with...

Lack of education I reckon.  I was told on a different site to rename the .VOBs and delete the rest.  I can re-rip, not a huge deal.  I doubt that's what is causing the Blue screens.  Any ideas there?
Thanks for the input!

Blue Screen is usually hardware related.  Try updating drivers.

You could read about setting up for DVD in the Wiki (link above).

I'll take another look at the Wiki.  DVD, AVI, Downloaded MPG, Blu-Ray all play fine.  It's just the files that I ripped and then renamed the .VOBs.  Also going to try imugli's suggestion.
I re-ripped the first DVD tonight.  After DVDShrink, I have a folder full of XX.IFO, XXX.BUP and XXX.VOB.  Will MC magicly know the song titles or would I have to rename all to song title.XXX?
Thanks again for the help and a GREAT product!
