Hi
does the trial version work with syncing ipods. Wanted to make sure i was happy with the process before i purchased but it won't detect the device.
have rebooted, tried different usb, rebooted ipod - tried to detect manually through tools/options
what else is there to try
thanks
Simon

The latest nano's (the ones with an accelerometer) require Media Center 13. You could use the free trial if you want to try it.
-
ok thanks Matt - where can i download that from
-
New versions are made available at the top of this board:

Thanks.

ok i installed thinking it would upgrade the previous version and therfore keep the library etc in place - it just added another instance.
the syncing still doesn't work
do i need to delete both versions then install v13 again?
-

Please ensure that you have build 68 or later installed:
13.0.68 (11/04/2008)
1. NEW: Added support for iPod Nano 4G models. ( if your 4G is not recognized, please report it here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=36033.0 )
Build 78 is available here:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=49285.msg337440;topicseen#msg337440
If it's still not recognized, please report the information about the iPod in this thread:

Thanks.

upgraded to v78 - still the same issue
it's the 3g version though not the latest 4g
-
have rported on thread
it appears in the list - does this mean it doesn't and won't work
model MB261 serial YXX
sorry to be a pain - but i can hardly give someone a present that doesn't work :(

If we see those model numbers, we should classify it as "Apple iPod Nano 3G (black) [8GB]". This makes me think the problem is somewhere else -- like in the connection. Try other USB ports and make sure you see the iPod as a drive in Explorer.
-
have tried other ports and two cables
it registers as a drive in explorer - also asks if i want to format it - so cancel that
it appears as a drive in the devices area of MC13 as well but won't detect as an ipod on clicking on sync handheld or if i goto options - redetect all devices
i can't add it as a device as it asks me to reformat the drive - which i imagine i shouldn't be doing.

I've never heard of this before. Is it possible you need to format it or get a driver since Explorer is asking about formatting?
You could also try iTunes to see if it sees it. It's possible it would install a driver after which it'd work in both programs.
Sorry I'm not more help here.

ah that was the reason
the ipod needed to be sync'd with itunes first so that it could convert it from a mac setup to a windows version
