1. Use Internet Explorer Version 5\6
2. Make Sure You Clear Out Your Temp Folder (Just In Case)

What Version Of MJ Do You Have? If Not MJ 8.0.334 download newest version.

Also Try This Link

No.  But IE should work for her.

i was thinking sometimes the download does not work and it does with a FTP, could there be a button for both on the downloads, and the plugin pages?

i know there may be a reason for not providing this but it may come in handy for users that are having problems.

ok i have installed 8.0.334.  still cant download the mp3 ecoder file.  somehow i was ableto dowload a plug-in with the lame.exe file in it once i unzipped it.  this can be selected as an external plug and it converst cd tracks to mp3 but only at 12b MBPS (and an external window opens up in unix? i guess and it shows the conversion process.  Not exactly what i wanted since i have paid for this product and would like to encode mp3s at a higher rate.

From IE, try this link:

http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/downloads/plugins.pl

Then go to the page you want from the menu on the left.

Ok - Still getting the following error message:
Dowloading MP3 Encoder
Status: Connecting
then a pop-up window - Failed to connect to a server

I cleaned out my tmp folder and all temp files.

I am running MJ 8.0334 and IE version 6

Is anyone else having problems with dowloading the MP3 encoder plug in?

It may be a firewall or proxy server problem on your end.

what is the way around that (i have MJ installed on my pc at work).  I assume that the file cannot be downloaded some other way?

It is strange since i've had version 7.x on the same pc for sometime now and it worked fine.  if 8 the plug in cannot be downloaded is tehre anyway the plug in (mp3 encoder)for version 7.x canbe sent to me?

thanks,

I'm having the same problem, FWIW - can't get out to download encoders or skins. I'm behind MS ISA Server and it feels like a firewall/proxy problem, but I haven't had much time to experiment. (And I've been changing my setup so frequently that's it hard to pin down whether it started with a new firewall configuration or a new MJ build.)

The firewall should be pretty transparent to most requests, and I'm not aware of anything else that's not working. Do you need a particular port open for MJ plugins, or can you think of anything else that would need to be done to open the firewall?

Maybe you could ask your system administrator if anything has changed that could affect it.

We use straight http requests on the standard port 80.  It's just like what you do when you browse a web page.

I assume you're using IE.

Yup - using IE 6.0 on WIn 98.  I can access web pages everywhere and also do thing like use aol IM (sending and receieving files through IM) so i am not sure why i am having this problem.

would someone be able to go to the link to download it (from another ISP) and send the plug in to me?  I was going to ask a friend who works elsewhere to do it if it was possible...

Try a right click on the download link and to a save as.

Then open the file with notepad.  Here's an example of what you will see.

[Package]
Name=Slide Show
Action=UNZIPDIR
Version=1.0.10
URL=http://www.musicex.com/mediajukebox/mj_data/plugins/slideshow.zip

[Action]
File1=*.*
File1Action1=COPY_VISUALIZATIONS
File2=SlideShow.dll
File2Action1=REGISTER

Try pasting the URL link into your browser.

Well, I'll ask him, but I'm the sysadmin as well as the user and I'll probably just blow me off.

I got interested, so I did some experimenting. I'm on a WinXP box. The server is running MS Small Business Server, with MS ISA Server as the firewall/proxy. I got these results for both encoders and skins.

With .331 and .336, the "connecting" window appears very briefly, immediately followed by "Failed to connect to server."

Uninstalled MJ. Installed .293 (randomly chosen). After the "connecting" window, I'm prompted by my server for user name, PW, domain. It has to be generated by the firewall/proxy, and it's quick enough that it looks like it's asking permission for the outgoing request, not the incoming stream. When the user info is filled in, the encoder/skin downloads and installs.

Installed .336 on top of .293. I still have the encoder/skins I downloaded for .293, of course, but I can't download anything new - I'm back to "failed to connect."

And just for fun, I repeated the sequence and got the same results.

You might try slipping radarmary an earlier build, just to see if there's any pattern.

Things that make you say, hmmm . . .

I'll look at the source in the morning to see if I can find a change - thanks for the hints.

I've noticed that firewalls are starting to be more picky about what http code they allow to pass, this may have something to do with it too.

OK that worked, i was able to get the mp3 encoder plug in.  Now a followup question, when i rip a track, it shows the progress bar that it is copying etc. and when it comes time to encode, it opens up the MSDOS window (i assume the mp3 encoder .exe program) and starts to encode (you can watch the progress in the DOS window.  I notice that this plug in encodes at 128 bits, as i recall version 7.x of Media Jukebox allowed one to set the encoding rate up to 320.  Does this mean I cannot encode at a higher rate?

Secondly, the cd i put in get's CDDB information that is incorrect (inccorect no matter what cd i put in) and it lists track information from the first CD i ever used version 7.x of Medai Jukebox with -how do i clear this information so that it can access the actual CDDB info?

thanks.

You can set the encoder bit rate.  Right under the window where you set the encoder type.

CDDB?  Don't know.  Try rebooting.  Also under settings/options/device settings, check the CDDB settings.  If you use a proxy server, you must enter it here.

Try a search on other CDDB problems here.
