Title: Resuming DVD's causes long delay (Resolved)
Post by: Mr ChriZ on December 19, 2008, 10:38:59 am
I've seen this for a long time, but never got round to mentioning it here.
After pausing a DVD, sometimes when resuming, MC sits for a good 15 seconds or so before resuming.
When it does resume, it's moved forward the same amount of time as the delay.
So effectively missing 15 seconds of movie.

Is this likely to be just down to the FFDShow / libmpeg2 decoder?

Is it possible your drive is spinning back up?

I've actually realised it's dependent on the DVD, which is a bit strange.
Rips are the same, sometimes delay sometimes no delay.
I'll keep experimenting.

This ones still giving me issues.
Is anyone else seeing something similar to this?
I think it seems to happen more with DVD Rips.
I did have another post on this but I can't find it.

I've made a discovery.   I changed the Video decoder from FFDShow to Microsoft MPEG 2 Video Decoder and the issue has stopped.

I've upgraded to the latest FFDShow tryout and this seems to have resolved the issue.
Unfortunatley at the same time it's knocked out my audio!

I think I've got it resolved.  I used the latest SVN Build of FFDShow, which seems fairly stable,
and AC3 for the audio... and like a wobbly tower it's working better than ever before... so I'm not going to touch it anymore in case it breaks again!

[Edit]
I had different issues with FFDShow.  So I've moved away from FFDShow to DScaler 5 (Free) which has resolved the issue.
This appears to have worked straight off so far.
