Title: Server Setup
Post by: royirby on December 27, 2008, 11:40:52 am
I could use some advice on the optimal setup for my situation.  All of my media resides on a dedicated htpc/server box (music/vid/pix).  I do most of my management activities (ripping, tagging, etc.) from a workstation.  When I initially installed MC, I just installed it on the workstation.  Since most of the monitored media folders reside on the server, would I be better off installing MC to the server?

Tnx!

I would say no in this instance.

I don't believe Library server allows you to actually edit the library, simply access it which isn't what you want. The only advantage I could see for you would be the conversion on the fly feature.

Different if you were USING the file server as a workstation as well (perhaps in your lounge room)but not with your setup and not via Library Server.

I'd stick with the way you have it.
