Title: Some problems with upgrade (Junior Woodpecker Topic)
Post by: morrison on January 05, 2009, 07:16:56 pm
:) sorry for my english

greetings with new release, dear developers and happy holidays )
traditionaly thanks for you excellent software

i'm with big interesting look on new version, but waiting final release for migrate main db, and now i start this..  some questions

i create custom field in my MC12 database (1 TB audio ::)) - Style. This is standard list (semicolon delimited) value, and music release can have many style at one time (like in reality ). For example:
Artist: Plaid
Album: Double Figure
Style: Leftfield; IDM; Downtempo
in MC12 all good and looks like list:
Leftfield
IDM
Downtempo

in MC 13 style field like genre - string data type, and i can't change this..  - Leftfield; IDM; Downtempo

Yeah, for now i create new "Custom Style" list field, but if its possible - may be user can change Data Type option in new MC13 "Style" field.

another lamo question - how i can import hi-res date (like 30 May 2003 or 30.05.2003) in MC13?
If i paste date from clipboard in MC all works fine. But i have 1905, 1906, 1930 and other strange years, if i try import mp3 edited by mp3tag (i write without problem all another tags for MC12 and 13).. many combinations mp3 field and date format with no result. Ok, i try copy hi-res date in MC from another field, from "comment" for example. And this way dont work, 30.05.2003 (or 30 May 2003) from comment tag = 29.01.1900 1:12 in Date field :(. Its about mp3, but for flac similar problems.

We'll have to think about whether we can make the new stock field "Style" a list field.

For now, your best bet is a new field, like you mentioned.  You can use the Move / Copy Fields tool to copy data from one to the other.

For the date parsing, try using dashes instead of dots.

thanks for tips Matt

for now i not have any problem with my custom style field. but if you change type or another way - i will be happy

about date - unfortunality its don't work (

if i paste from clipboard 07-06-1995 - all ok. If i copy this value from another tag, comment for example - i have blank data field in MC main view and MC file tag view (i make some screenshots (http://pix01.com/YX@9Cxo)). if i try write 07-06-1995 from latest mp3tag, after import in MC i have blank date in MC view and correct - in file tag MC view, like in screenshot..

Yes, i use only included skins in MC13 - no time for fun ))

i switch from Blue Steel skin to Slim skin (feature request for MC15 - "always on top" option ;) ).

And bug in another direction - switch from slim to blue steel - screenshot (http://pix01.com/gX@Be9V) - i don't crop MC picture, this effect - after i doubleclick to slim top to maximize. I do this on my second monitor (vaio sz 1280*800). I have this bug for 50% of trys(

I have this bugs and in MC12.

my video config - vaio sz 1280*800 + acer 1920*1200 dual monitor on intel X3100

hm...

and another problem, help please (

i can't update FLAC tag's from MC. I remove all tags from files with mp3tag, check this with dbpoweramp and mp3tag - all tags empty.
i do "Update library (from tags)", MC says "Library updated for 7 files (0 failures) - and not change tags info, all tags stay present in db. Ok, i delete file from db and re-import  - and all old field in db present again. For file with clear tags...

Introduced in build 13.0.153:

Quote
5. Changed: Added "Credits" field.  Importing My Movies xml file adds only actor names to Actors field, but actor/role to credits field.

I use the credit field for many years for my music. Now you do the same with a closed setting, and I again have to enclose the new custom field. I use now also "Custom Genre" and "Custom Style" tags - because I want use list data type instead of string default. Why not allow them at least to set up?

another example - Media Sub Type field. Why i don't can add another values? Not me, not any in my family don't use Apple hard|software, and i don't think about compatibility with ipod. But I had to create new tag - Media MegaSub Types, for custom music video types..

now I cannot see the credits field for audio files even from action bar ?
and don't can copy fields from Move/Copy fields.. - i don't see new "credits" and in copy field action.

Please help - how i can restore my credits tag? i can see this only as panes category for now, and with wrong type for me (. I don't know about problems with my library if I downgrade to pre-.153 build..

another strange - MC not use custom Temp folder. In my setting - U:\Temp\ , but MC (latest) still write temp to AppData folder..

It will use the AppData folder for some temporary files.  This is not currently configurable.

They're more likely to be answered if they have a subject that describes the problem.  If they aren't answered reply with "bump".
