Title: No Auto CD playback only when something is already playing ?
Post by: Osho on July 21, 2002, 01:59:49 pm
Hi,

I currently have MJ Plus on W2K. I am trying to figure out how I can configure MJ so that it doesn't Auto play (and replace the playing now list) when I insert a CD. I would like it not to do auto play only if something already is playing from the playing now list.

I am currently in middle of ripping a bunch of my CD's and I find myself in situation where every 15 minutes I have to insert a new CD. I am playing some already ripped CD this time and MJ just abruptly replace the currently playing album with the newly inserted CD. I have to change it back to what I was in middle of. So painful !!

What I would like is MJ to contact CDDB, get CD info and do nothing.
Any ideas?

Try unassociating CD's (temporarily) in Options - File Associations.

Or (from Windows Help)

You can also open the System Properties dialog box by clicking Start, pointing to Settings, clicking Control Panel, and then double-clicking System.
This setting applies to all CDs, including games, multimedia, and audio CDs.
To prevent CDs from playing automatically, click to clear the Auto insert notification check box. You can also press the SHIFT key while inserting a CD to stop it from playing automatically.

You need to know that Auto Insert Notification set to ON sometimes interferes with CD burning.

I had already disassociated CD play back and still was having this problem, BTW.

Thanks for the tip. Pressing SHIFT works for me.

I wish J River would provide a feature where if MJ is playing something, it doesn't disrupt it while doing anything (downloading music, inserting/removing CD's etc. ).

thanks,
