Title: how can I get WASAPI to work on my setup?

I am using Vista x64 and an Via Envy card. I thought WASAPI is driver-independent?

  I'm not directly familiar with that card, but it's possible that VIA have elected to use their own code (to prevent them having to re-write more of it) instead of using the audio driver components built into Vista ("in the box" drivers) for their Vista drivers.  If this is the case they may be missing this functionality.
