Post by: KingSparta on January 15, 2009, 08:46:26 pm
You know there is a SDK out for lightscribe drives

I just bought Two new LG lightscribe drives

What's LightScribe?

...just kidding.

I purchased a new drive a few months ago and it is has the LightScribe ability, however I have yet to try out that feature. Somewhere I once read that it takes a long time to inscribe a disk. That might have been a while ago though so maybe they're faster now? Nevertheless, if MC had LightScribe support, the sudden convenience would probably persuade me to start using it (LightScribe that is).

I like the idea.

Well it depends on what you put on the disk

I just burn the CD title or number on the disk, and not all of the background images and all that.

for just the Text it is less than 2 mins

the "LightScribe Simple Labeler" does a good job for my needs most of the time, and you can add some small stock images to the disks that make them look good.

I use it all the time.

I've never even actually seen a LightScribe-d disc.  I do have two burners capable, though.  Never bothered.  I'm kinda a cheater though, since I have one of these (http://www.primera.com/bravoII_disc_publisher.html) at my desk at work.

More agile printer support in MC would be greatly appreciated, though.  Specifically, MC doesn't respect the page sizes selected in the printer drivers (it thinks it is smarter) which makes it not work with my cool label printing duplicator at all.  And it is still completely messing up the printer driver setup dialogs.  I posted about this once long ago (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=39442.0), but it hasn't been fixed...

Because you posted on September 12th and we were all still locked into our underground bunkers which serve to protect us from the raging hordes.

That, or everyone just likes King better.
