Title: F2 Key - Thumbnails
Post by: Mr ChriZ on January 24, 2009, 11:42:49 am
Is it possible F2 Key could be made to allow you to edit the name tag when on a thumbnail?

This gets a little complicated because we allow multi-line expressions to be used for thumbnail text.

However, I agree it'd be nice in cases where the thumbnail text is just [Name].

Wouldn't that be potentially confusing in library browser views where [name] is not always [name], if you know what I mean?

I'm not sure, my views always keep the text as [name] except sometimes when they are preceded by something such as [episode], so F2 to change [name] would still make sense.

[name] takes on the tag for whichever category in your view you are on, so if you're looking at genre's pressing F2 would edit the name tag which in turn is the genre tag, so you'd end up editing [genre]

Maybe there's different ways that people use this however?

What may cause confusion is where an expression is used for a view.
For example I can create a view where one of the categories is episode/name.
This means [name] actually get's over ridden by the expression, and editting name has no effect.
Saying that this is no different to if you manually looked at tags and looked for [name].

So I think it still works.

Actually no it doesn't work like that so it maybe too confusing.
The detail panes and tag editor just use [name] as [name]
Where as the thumbnail pane uses [name] as the category of the view.
