Title: Time in Theater View no longer available
Post by: Marty3d on January 25, 2009, 07:36:24 am
Is it possible to have it back, please? You don't use the whole top section now, and it would be a great place for a little clock :)

Thanks!
/Martin

The clock is in the lower right of the home view.

I've asked for this too.

I liked it on every page and really miss it.

Ah! There it was! ...unfortunately, I hardly ever visit that view :(

Matt, please reconsider putting it back to every page! :)

What about date? Anyone else wish this was on the main page too? There's certainly enough room for it!

Okay, I feel that time is critical.  We have a MC box in our exercise room and whenever we're on the audio browse screen, it's constantly a question of what time it is.  Date, yes would be nice as well.  I've even asked for, say, current weather conditions!  What about time, short hand date, and an image icon with weather?  Sunny?  Cloudy?  Snowy?  Earthquakie?

A nice recipe of the day would also be welcome, Ben?  :)

+1. This is a good idea - particularly if the time is at the same location on *every* screen.

Is it something that's skinable?

I have formatdate(now(),dddd dd//MM//yyyy)  padnumber(formatdate(now(),hour),2):padnumber(formatdate(now(),minute),2) in the display bar and it gives the current date and time...

It updates in real time during playback, but otherwise, remains static.

We're talking Theater View here Marko... fortunately time is skinable though even in Theater View.

I have time and zone display on the main menu at the bottom right (the default I think?) and on every view at the top left corner of the screen (on the roller menu area). In Obsidian's main.xml, add the following lines like this:

Code: [Select]
<TEXT>
        <Item Text="[Time] ([Zone])" Location="" TextColor="FFFFFF" Rect="RootText\50,0,100,100" Capitalization="0" Alignment="1" Alpha="40"/>
        <Item Text="[Time] ([Zone])" Location="**\" TextColor="FFFFFF" Rect="0,1,10,5" Capitalization="0" Alignment="1" Alpha="40"/>
</TEXT>

The placement and size (determined by the Rect numbers) is configured for my screens (1920x1080) but hopefully you get the idea if you need to tweek it.

It would be brilliant if other db fields were available like date etc...

yes, it is skinable. to add it to the obsidian skin: make a copy of that skin in the fullskins folder of mc, and add this text to the main.xml
Code: [Select]
<TEXT>
<Item Text="[zone]" Location="***" TextColor="aaaaaa" Rect="Titlebar\1,1,99,99" Capitalization="0" Alignment="0" Size="[Title Text Height]" />
<Item Text="[Time]" Location="***" TextColor="aaaaaa" Rect="Titlebar\1,1,99,99" Capitalization="0" Alignment="1" Size="[Title Text Height]" />
</TEXT>
it will give the time in the left upper corner, and the zone in the right upper corner.

There you go...

Of course, I know we're talking about theatre view, it's right there in the subject!

I know very little about theatre view skinning, hence the question, which, judging by answers from yourself and gappie, was one worth asking :)

Anyway to do something similar in Playing Now to get the minutes/seconds played (or left) of the current song?

Any updates on this?

I'm sure that it's possible to customize the skin, but I'd actually preferred if it was by default somehow :)
