Title: Screen Saver Problem - not starting after playback stops
Post by: rpalmer68 on January 27, 2009, 06:10:48 pm
I'm running MC (latest beta versions) in theater view on Win Xp SP3 and have the windows screen saver set to come on after 5 minutes to help prevent burn-in on my plasma.

The screen saver starts correctly if I'm just on a Theater View menu somewhere or when playing audio and Playing Now is displayed.

BUT once audio playback finishes and the screen is still sitting on Playing Now the screen saver doesn't start.

My playing now has a track info visualization in the bottom 1/2 of the screen, but the screen saver works fine while the audio is playing, but once the audio stops the screen saver turns off and then doesn't restart and hence leaved the playing now screen on allthe time.

If I start playback again, then the screen saver will start correctly again after 5 minutes.

Is this something that can be fixed within MC?

We're not doing this on purpose.

To make sure I understand, you're in Theater View's Playing Now when the music stops?

Unfortunately, I don't see the same thing.

We disable the screensaver if:
* We're in fullscreen Display View  OR
* The display is detached and in fullscreen  OR
* The UI mode has been changed in the last one minute

I can't see why Playing Now in Theater View, while stopped, would do anything special.

Have done some more testing..  even just having "Cover Art" at the bottom of the playing now screen does the same thing... screen saver is on and as soon as playback stops screen saver turns off and then never comes on again.

Not sure what else I can tell you, happens on three different PCs, all running XP SP3.

I start playback from Theater View by drilling down to the album tracks and then select Play All on the first (or any ) track.

Playing now screen is then displayed and after 5 minutes screen saver starts.  At end of last track playback stops and so does the screen saver.

Start playback again and then screen saver with come on again.

Maybe the PIP area has something to do with it??

Richard, try hacking the xml to remove it from Playing Now and see if the problem persists.

But then Matt should see the same problem.

I'll take a look, but I don't know much about xml..
