Title: Split view lock options
Post by: ChrisRainman on February 05, 2009, 02:12:46 pm
Couldn't you add one nice feature for split views:

Locking views so that they can't accidentally be changed by clicking in the tree section.
In my opinion, this would be extremely helpful to be able to lock the "playing now" view.

E.g. when using the command "locate - Album" this then should result in the previous unlocked view to be changed. Also, if I still have focused the playing now view and choose another view scheme, this then should change the unlocked view.

Would be a nice feature for many situations!

I've been asking for this many times my self. I just can't use the split views because of this.
Would also love to set the links to go to one fixed view, so you don't have to go back all the time.

How are chances to implement that for MC13?

In similar words I've said it already in earlier releases: it's a great product but from the perspective of usability with little improvements you could achieve big steps in user satisfaction (especially rookies who will wonder most about it).

As it seems to be only 3 people who could see the usability of having a permanent "playing now" showing (or something else), I wouldnt get my hopes to high.
Try to put in a " lock" between "Split view" and " options" in the heading of the first post. It might attract more attention  ;)

Another vote from me. I don't use split views atm because accidentally changing the wrong view happens to often and is annoying.

I don't want to annoy anyone with this thread. But it would be great to receive an answer by JRiver how chances are to get that feature in future, hopefully MC13?

We don't disagree that it'd be nice, but it's not at the top of the list right now.
