Not sure if this is a bug or something that needs to be tweaked, but in .114, for each type of 3D or non-3D visualization, the visualization sticks for about 5 seconds every 10 seconds. This is on a Vista64 box with a Core 2 Quad CPU, 6GB of RAM, playing the "Drone Zone" channel using the SomaFM plugin, and no other applications (including virus scanners) running at the time. Haven't tested this on previous versions, but I can say that I don't see this behavior in other MC/MP applications on this machine.

The issue with any/all visualizations freezing every 10 seconds while playing internet radio (e.g., Soma, Shoutcast) media reported for build 114 is still present in build 119. I have reproduced this problem on two Vista desktops and one XP laptop.
This does not happen in WMP on any of the boxes. Interestingly, it does not happen in WMP *while* MC is also playing. That is, I open MC, start a Shoutcast stream, set up a visualization, note the freezing behavior, then also start up WMP, open a media stream, open a visualization, and WMP does not exhibit the freezing.

Something "special" is going on. Check this thread for ideas.

I had a similar problem a few months ago. It turned out to be a Windows problem with an unused network interface. It's reported near the bottom of the thread.
Uninstall the somafm plug-in to test.
For now, please post in this thread, and not in the bug thread.

JimH:
I disabled an unused wired connection, to no avail. This also isn't Soma-specific. It happens with Shoutcast as well.
I confirmed the behavior on a fourth machine (XP SP3 laptop) tonight as well.
BTW, my network and CPU are barely getting touched, and this happens without any A/V or firewall running.
Any other ideas?

Sounds like a network issue don't you think?

A network issue that doesn't affect WMP, even when both are playing at the same time? No, it sounds like a problem with MC's chunking algorithm or the cyclical way MC is calling the visualization code. The thread is blocking every 10 seconds. I see this on four separate machines. I'm guessing your engineers should be able to reproduce this.

Is it the same visualization in WMP?
Does it happen in MC without the visualization?
-
I can confirm it happens in MC even when no vis. is being displayed. It occurs on mine in that not only the visualisation / display freezes but the entire program becomes unresponsive. The cursor will still move but focus does not. I cannot type or select options. My unused network card (Ethernet) is disabled.

It happens with every vis I've seen in MC, incl. G-force. I haven't seen it on any vis. yet in WMP.

I tried to reproduce it on my machine with build 115. It was quiet easy ;) I just turned on vis and saw: it freezes every ~10 seconds! Never had this before. Looks like it is realy connected to MC. I didn't change anything with my PC (only installed a trial of Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 yesterday).
edit: Same with 119

And without a visualization, it's OK?

I can see it now. It only seems to happen when playing web media.
We'll take a look at it next week. Thanks for reporting and for your patience.

You're right! Sorry that I didn't notice...

You're welcome. Thanks for looking into it.

This will be fixed in version 13.0.120 and later. Hopefully it will be available here in about a week.
Thanks for helping out.
