Title: Some help with SD/HD video and sound setup

I've been experimenting with a lot of codecs over the years, and belive I have found the best ones. I could need a bit of  pointers of wich order to install them in, and maby some hidden dangers along the way. So, this is my plan:

Dscaler5: DVD's
CoreAVC: MKV and HD material (really the only thing for playback of 1080P as I know of)
Quick Alternative: Quicktime files
Real Alternative: Real something
CCCP: For playback of every other video format

AC3 Filter: Sound

My current plan is to install all of this, in this order. That way I might just have to change playback decoder to CoreAVC for the MKV files. I have an almost identical setup today, but the sound was screwed up. Stereo was ok, but the voices (front speaker) of surround was terriby low (DVD and HD material). After a lot of audio decoder changes the 1080P video content started skipping again. Just like using bad video decoders. That's why I have to revert to an older image and start over. I don't know. Maby I should leave out the AC3 and don't mess with the sound settings at all.

The hard part here seems to be to get a perfect picture (no skipping) on 1080P content as well as a good sound setup for 5.1 and 7.1 source. Any suggestions are welcome.

I'd be interested in your final audio solution.

After an enomous amount of experimentation with codecs, I finally have my (Panasonic) AVCHD camcorder (.m2ts) files playing in Hi-Def nicely but the audio still is skipping. I can't seem to hit on the right audio decoder or something. The video looks great. I'm using AC3 but to no avail.

With AC3 do you man ac3filter? If not you could give it a try, its the most stable audio filter for me:

Agreed AC3Filter = best for AC3 and DTS up to 6.1 (DTS-ES/DD-EX)

If you're using an ATI Card, you may want to try downloading their AVIVO Codec pack. I just have (after experiencing stuttering TV) and seems to be working great.

Nvidia 7800 GTS here. And a HDA Xplosion 7.1 soundcard.
