Using the latest version of MJ, when viewing the file properties of a newly downloaded MP3, which I haven't yet updated the tags on, named like this:
Artist-Song_Name.mp3
When I right click on file under Media Library--Artist/Album--Unassigned tab, and select the Properties Link, The General Info tab comes up and all that is populated is:
Name: Artist-Song_Name
Year: 0
Track: 0
Rating: ?
and all other fields empty.
I then click on the Tools...Get Information From CDDB... and that's where it crashes. The message I get is:
MEDIA JUKEBOX: Media Jukebox.exe - Application Error
The Instruction at "0x03755007" referenced memory at "0x0385fffd". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
After clicking OK, here's what I get:
MEDIA JUKEBOX: Media Jukebox.exe - Application Error
The Instruction at "0x0370b99f" referenced memory at "0x03851f3c". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
And then it closes.
What's wierd is that if you go and edit one of the fields, save it, re-check the properties, delete that field and then try accessing CDDB again, it doesn't crash. It's like it only does it before a file is ever edited.
Anyone have this problem. Sorry for such a long post.
Thanks, Randy.

Is anybody else experiencing this problem??? Thanks, Randy.

I also experienced the same problem with MJ Plus 8.0.329 version. In my case, it just hung while trying to get info from CDDB and I had to kill it manually from task manager.
IE 6.0.2600.0000
OS : Windows 2K SP2 with all the latest updates as of today.

As to why MJ crashes, I don't have a clue but I do know that you should get your information from CDDB when you have the original CD in before ripping. That way it will be ripped with at least the basic track info. It might work on individual tracks but not reliably.
I'll see if I can find an unnamed file and try CDDB on it to see if I crash, too.

Tried it. No Crash. Just can't find any info in CDDB.
Insert an unripped CD while connected and see if CDDB works then.
You will need to have "Enable CDDB on-line CD lookup" in Options - Device Settings enabled.

There is more when using it for one track info.
To change some tags gives you infos when you do not get info before.
If you take 2 times the same song with the same tags, you get info for one ,not the other.
There is a post from me under'CDDB tips' or something like it.
But i would not say that MJ is the problem,CDDB,A VERY EXPANSIVE RIP |OFF IS
where is Bemis 82?
The spanky evangelist wants to try to give you some pleasure.
Ok ,it is a very enigmatic private message, but to use existing structures is much more a revolutionary act than to built new ones...

It's not when I'm ripping a CD but when I download a track from a record label's web site that hasn't entered any track info in the tags, or other similar situations.
If there is no tag information at all, other than name, which I think is just taken from the filename attribute, that's when it crashes.
MJ works fine when ripping original CD.
Not saying it's a MJ problem. Might very well be a Gracenote thing.
Anyway, thanks, Randy.
