Title: TS file Playback
Post by: SeaDrive on March 03, 2009, 02:45:30 pm
Until recently the playback of ts and m2ts files in MC was not very good. Lots of tearing, etc. In recent versions it appears that they play much better. I did however notice a few oddities.

1) Once I seek forward during the playback of a ts file I can no longer go back earlir than the current seek point. For example if I seek from 12:00 to 14:45 I can no longer go back earlier than 14:45. It seems as if the bookmark is getting set and not allowing me to seek any earlier. I tried to change thefile to 'Use Bookmark' = No but that doesn' help. If I absolutely need to go earlier I have to stop playback, clear the bookmark and start playback from the beginning again.

2) The 30 second skip actually skips 32 seconds. It doesn't sound like much but when watching recorded TV shows and attempting to skip commercials skipping a few commercials can add up to about 15 or 20 seconds of missed time. Because of issue #1 above I can't even back up a few seconds.

What video codecs are you using for playback of these files?

I'm using AC3 filter for Audio and I tried the Cyberlink PwerDVD8 and Arcsoft HD Video and FFDShow for video. FFDshow has very bad quality so I use either of the other 2. I think that all do the same thing but I can't be sure. Once I was able to get a good quality I stopped testing Codecs. I'll have to check it out later.

I have the sames problem (only with .m2ts).  I cannot reverse.  Can only go back to last seek point.  I'm using Cyberlink (PRDVD 7) filters.

I just emailed a log file. During playback I attempted to seek backwards but playback always resumes at the latest playing mark.
