Title: Schedule a download?
Post by: lise on March 06, 2009, 06:42:56 pm
There is no option to 'download' in scheduler.  Is this somewhere else? Is it gone?

And just in case there is a simpler way I am not aware of...

CBC's As it Happens only has a "Best of" available as podcasts. I want the entire hour long show, daily, and I want it on my Wince so I can listen to it while I walk.

After noodling on their site for a while, I found this:
mms://a443.v8752e.c8752.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/443/8752/1236207671000/origin.media.cbc.ca/windows/asithappens/20090304-aih-1.wmv

They keep about 3 days worth of shows there.

I figured if MC could download the files in that (very long subfolder), then I'm in business.

lise, you can try SDP http://sdp.ppona.com/

it's a streaming recorder with batch and VCR functionality  :) ..and it's free  :D

Lasse_Lus,

I assume you use this program.
Do you know if I could set it to download all wmv files in a given directory?

ie is there some way to say Go to mms://a443.v8752e.c8752.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/443/8752/1236207671000/origin.media.cbc.ca/windows/asithappens/

and get all the wmv files that exist there?
I've read the help and FAQ but couldn't find an answer.

if you know the "mms://.. name"

then create a file called batch.asx

paste the URL/MMS Path's into that file (notepad), and save
open SDP/
Open (browse for the asx file)
press batch button

re: "given directory", i think, you don't have permission to browse

Thanks.
Yeah, I knew about the batch file, and it works fine.
The thing is I really wanted to automate the process a bit more.
I would rather not have to modify the batch file everyday to change the filename (which is the date of the show).  That's why I wanted to point to something like *.wmv or use variables ($Year$Month$Day-aih-1.wmv) which would take care of the daily file without my having to edit the batch file every day.

But at least I can get the shows! Thanks again.

Lise, understand..i have not tried that myself with this program, but regarding "automate the process" the possibilities are endless with a PC  ;)
