Title: MJ 8 encoder
Post by: Spacednow on March 12, 2009, 06:33:09 pm
Sure you've heard it before, I have MJ 8 (saved) and my license (backed up). Went and did fresh install, now I can't DL an MP3 encoder for it- so I tried MJ 12, but says I have to buy a license to encode MP3. Don't really care about all the extra stuff (clip art, pod casts, and the likes) that come w/12. Anyone know where I can get an encoder for MJ8 ? Thanks

MJ8 includes the MP3 encoder if it's licensed.

I tested the MJ8/MP3 encoder download. (I still have the old program versions installed on my MS Virtual PC emulator for testing purposes.)

It almost works as originally designed, but there seems to be a slight problem that must be corrected by hand.

The plugin download can be started inside MJ8 by clicking a plugin download link either in the encoding settings window or in the plugin manager window. The link leads to the old MJ8 download site, in which the MP3 encoder is available. The MJP installer must be saved to a local disk and renamed because there is a filename problem. For some reason the MJP file gets the name "hit.pl" instead of "enc_mp3.mjp". After you have downloaded the file you must change the filename extension to .mjp. The MJP file is an installer that downloads the actual encoder plugin and installs it to MJ8. You can run it by double-clicking the MJP file.

The problem may be caused by the recent server changes. (Bob from JRiver, could you please check this.)

I can't even find the old download site!

The link inside MJ8 is this:
http://www.mediajukebox.com/cgi-bin/downloads/plugins.pl?

The encoder plugins are here:
http://www.mediajukebox.com/cgi-bin/downloads/plugins.pl?type=7&start=0&end=10&page=1

The download link for the MP3 encoder:
http://www.mediajukebox.com/cgi-bin/downloads/hit.pl?SKIN=476&download=plugin&version=8&url=/mj_data/plugins/enc_mp3.mjp

EDIT

The final build of MJ8:

Not quite sure how you got it to work.  I too have purchased a license for version 8 and am happy with it.  I just upgraded to Windows 7 and went to reinstall Media Jukebox v8.  The install is seemless, but I can't get to any of the plugins.  I really like converting to mp3, but all of the links fail.

What is the simplest way to get the MP3 encoder/converter to load correctly?

Thanks for your continued support and time.

I think all links to the old plug-ins were removed from the site.

Why Not Use The Free MJ14?

If you paid for MJ8 I can't remember now how that was licensed, and not sure if you would need to pay again for the encoder.

you may wish to ask JRiver that question for use with MJ14
