Title: Changing volume with wireless keyboard
Post by: TheDuke on March 17, 2009, 04:51:44 am
I am giving MC13 a try at the moment.
The only thing that bugs me at the moment is
using my media keyboard the volume adjustment does not work.

Volume down works fine.
But pressing volume up sends you to theatre view menu

I have tried with MC12 (still on my computer) and all works fine - volume up and down

Try changing the volume settings.  You can right click on the volume control or visit Tools/Options/Playback.

i guess jim ment the output mode under the playback settings in options. switch between wave out and direct sound. also when you  rightclick on the small icon beside the volume bar, switch between internal and system volume...

dont know if it helps.

Try clicking on the small speaker icon to the left of the volume slider.

gappie's suggestion is also good.

If it's vista, there is an additional volume setting.  Try changing it.  In Standard View, do what I said above.

Is the problem in Theater View only?  Does it happen if you are in Standard View?

There is a "Media Keys" setting somewhere in MC options.  You can search for it at the top of Options.  Try changing it.

Other software may also interfere.  Logitech [something] was a problem at one time.

More details might help.  Version, OS, etc, step by step, etc.

Thanks very much for the reply.
It's a little hard to explain.

I have now disbled theatre view from the options and the volume up and down buttons work fine. I would like to keep theatre view however.

When I enable theatre view - pressing volume up stops playback and takes you to the theatre view menu screen.

I am guessing it might be something to do with remote control settings and some sort of clash. However disabling remote control from the options doesn't fix the problem.

Is there a hot key for theatre view. If so can I disable it.

F11 switches to Theater View, but volume buttons shouldn't be using that.

Ctrl 1 through ctrl 4 or 5 will also switch views.

You must have some software that is converting button presses.  Try disabling it.

Or maybe you "taught" MC how to respond to the remote and got that button wrong.

It's a mystery.
I have the remote control function disabled
And the only software on my computer is Office, MC 12 & 13, Windows Media Player & IE7
