I'd like to suggest that theater view start in the middle of the list of items at the homepage. Then, you go left or right and have, on average, half as far to go to reach your desired item.
Images | Music | Video
Starting in the middle on music, you have one button push to get to the other two important items. Touch screens would likely be happier too because instead of half the screen showing items, the entire width of the screen can show items providing about (n - 1) * 2 total items displayed!
Music | Images | Video | Television | Search | Playlists | Playing Now | DVD | News | Weather | Exit
11 items but, say, 5 are visible. Now center the list! You've got 4 on each side, giving 9 visible!

You can push left at the edge to roll. Pushing up flips between the head and tail.

It is fully functional, yes, and thanks for the up/down tip. I'm saying what if when you first open theater view, a central item was chosen--you'd need to re-order the items so Audio, Images, Video are in the middle. Then, you wouldn't have to go right repeatedly...you'd pick left OR right meaning you'd have half the distance to travel on average to find a desired element.

Sounds good in theory, but it would look awfully messy IMO. I like it how it is, honestly.
Although maybe a good compromise would be if we could just choose which item was the default. Then you could order things however you wanted in Theater View Options, and pick the middle item as the default item. Meanwhile, I could just leave the first item in the list as the default and everybody's happy.

I prefer as it is now with the first item selected, looks most clean and elegant imho.

Picking the default start item would be an excellent solution I think.
It just feels like the home page wastes such much real estate.
