I'm having a problem burning an MP3 CD. I have an .ape library and am using a Smartlist that I want to burn to CDs. I am choosing MP3 conversion and selecting VBR High (I also tried Normal). I selected the option to span multiple disks. Images below, along with my system info.
This is supposed to work, correct? Do I need to back down and select CBR to get this to work? It'd sure be nice to be able to use VBR High ... I'm a bit of a resolution nut as you might guess from my 10K+ .ape library.
Option I chose:

bump ... anyone? ... this is a basic feature not?
-
bump ... anyone from J River out there?
-
I tried CBR, forcing it to a specific bit rate of 256. Disk 1/3 burned successfully, Disk 2/3 failed with a similar error message as VBR.
Anyone with any ideas out there?

I have never used or even tested the span feature, but do you have enough free space on your temp location?
When the burner converts files it creates an ISO image file of the complete CD before the actual burn process starts (up to 700-800 MB). Possibly it creates more than one image file when it is spanning.
It may also be a bug.

Thanks Alex - that's an interesting thought. I tried yet again forcing it to 192kbps which resulted in 2 CDs, and it worked. So either it's a flaky CD burner (never had a problem with it before, but it might be dying on me), a bug with MC, or possibly a temp location if maybe the ISO images for the 192kpbs attempt were just a bit smaller than the other situations. I'll check into that a bit more.
