Title: WMAL Replay Gain Question
Post by: Doof on April 17, 2009, 03:56:42 pm
So I was perusing this (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Lossless_comparison#Comparison_Table) lossless audio comparison chart and noticed that it says WMA lossless doesn't support Replay Gain

What does this mean exactly? I have some WMAL files in my library and MC has calculated a Replay Gain value for them just fine. Does it just mean that whatever tagging standard is used in WMAL doesn't support a Replay Gain tag? Or is there more to it than that?

Good question.  I would like to understand more about replay gain myself.  It is my understanding that the values listed represent the amplitude (volume) that the files were recorded at.  The lower the number the higher the volume.  I don't mess with it because I don't want to change the integrity of the original recording.  With that said, it would be nice to be able to adjust it for a specific playlist or when I write a CD.  Is there some tutorial on this?
