Title: MC crashes every single time 5.1 output is used
Post by: RoadKill on April 28, 2009, 08:08:27 pm
I had this problem with MC11, and thought I'd upgrade to MC13 to see if it was fixed, as using the jrss 2.0 5.1 plugin makes 5.1 sound a lot better.
However, it isn't fixed. Playing back /any/ sound file works perfectly fine (and outputs well, to all channels). As soon as I click stop, it crashes, without fail.
Switching the output filter off means it never crashes when clicking stop.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library, Runtime error.
"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way..."

What is jrss?

You may have a bad driver.

What is jrss?
At a guess... JRiver Surround Sound?  ;)

Have a look under DSP Studio - Output Settings...

Try switching between WaveOut, DirectSound, WASAPI, and ASIO on Options > Playback.

This sounds like a driver problem when dealing with 5.1 sound.

If it continues to crash, please provide a log as described here:

Thanks.

Thanks for the log.  I think you should try updating your soundcard driver, as that's the only explanation I can think of.
