Title: cell phone software

For various reasons I needed to install some cell phone software today, i won't say who but they sell also telly's and games machines.
After downloading a 40 meg installer, and pressing install it has so far taken 10 minutes of churning and progress bar creeping, and processor thrashing, and is still going strong. 

This is on a modern AMD X2 5000 with decent specs etc.

It completely baffles me as to how anyone could create something like this.  As far as I'm aware the functionality of this software is fairly limited.
All it does is synchronise contacts calendars etc....

The installer should be 2mb, and install in seconds!

I'd guess if MC were built in the same way it would have to come on a DVD.

Just recently my server pc was complaining about low diskspace. I could not quite understand where the free space had gone. Checking the install/uninstall thingy in the controlpanel revealed several driver packages for  my cellphone software.. It totalled 1,2 Gb!!
